Laughter Is The Best Medicine!

By adinear

Even before “The Secret” movie came out which had the segment concerning how laughter helped one woman overcome cancer without surgery, it has long been known that laughter is the best medicine for most everything that ails you. Recently scientific studies have been done giving even more credence to this old saying. And in those studies there is enough proof to back up what doctors and philosophers have taught for millennia: laughing is good for you. Some doctors now recommend getting 15 minutes of laughter every day, in addition to eating a healthy diet and exercising.

Did you get the significance of the last six words. Is there anything in this world that doesn’t require, or at least suggest that we follow “eating a healthy diet and exercising”? Even the latest diet pills and green tea products – and speaking of green tea products – now here is where I laugh at myself. For years I have sucumbed to ads for diet products with their money back guarantees, and none or them have really done what they promised. Oh, I reduced my weight, for a short period of time, and get this, each product called for “eating a healthy diet and exercising”. Today, in doing some research on the internet I ran across an ad for the Wu Li Green Tea – something that is pasted in almost every site on the internet. I almost, ALMOST ordered the darn stuff just to see if it really worked. I really don’t need to reduce my body weight any further, but I would try something that I thought really worked so I could pass the results on to of you if it did. O.K., so I am getting ready to order this “FREE” supply of green tea, only to find out that they will send me a twelve week supply for only $2.95 for shipping and handling, for which I use my credit card to pay for – then after the two week trial, and only then, will they charge me $59.50 for each of the three boxes of tea that they sent. That’s $180.00 for a 12 week supply, and $59.50 for each box thereafter. I don’t even like tea.

However, maybe you would like to try it. Here is the link: www.AmazingChineseDiet.com. If you try it and it works, please let us all know, and I will suppress my laughter at myself for almost being foolish enough to fall once again to the advertising hype.

Getting back to laughter, a good sense or humor is aways an asset. If you can laugh at yourself, that means that you still like yourself, and can continue to treat yourself with respect and love. If you can laugh with your friends and family, your relationships will continue to flourish. All in all, laughter will keep you in an upbeat frame of mind, and keep your thoughts away from depressing and troubling thoughts, which in turn will cause your to feel badly toward yourself and others. Go see a good comedy movie, watch comedy on TV, read the funnies, find the joke of the day – find something to laugh at at least three times a day and your life will be much happier. Here’s a funny story that may start your day out with a grin on your face:

The phone rings, and the lady of the house answers,
‘Hello.’
‘Mrs. Sanders, please.’
‘Speaking.’
‘Mrs. Sanders, this is Doctor Jones at Saint Agnes Laboratory. When your
husband’s doctor sent his biopsy to the lab last week, a biopsy from another
Mr. Sanders arrived as well. We are now uncertain which one belongs to your
husband. Frankly, either way the results are not too good.’
‘What do you mean?’ Mrs. Sanders asks nervously.
‘Well, one of the specimens tested positive for Alzheimer’s, and the other
one tested positive for HIV. We can’t tell which is which.’
‘That’s dreadful! Can you do the test again?’ questioned Mrs. Sders.
‘Normally we can, but Medicare will only pay for these expensive tests one
time.’
‘Well, what am I supposed to do now?’
‘The folks at Medicare recommend that you drop your husband off somewhere in
the middle of town. If he finds his way home, don’t sleep with him.’

Think Thin Thoughts! (full of fun and laughter)
